Matter of Opening HlRhway Surrey on West Side of lUilroad From Scappooee Continued. Wednesday, April 7, 1915. 8th Judicial Day. On this day the report of the Board of County Road Viewers on the O. J. Thomas road was read in open Court the first time. On this day comes on for hearing the petition cf A. J. West for dam ages in the sum of $75, on account of the proposed opening of road sur vey No. P-56, otherwise known as the old E. J. Lindberg road, and the Court being advised in the matter, it is ordered by the Court that Bald pe tition bo, and the same is hereby de nied. On this day there is presented to the Court a duly executed deed of conveyance from tho Methodist Epis copal church of Warren, forever ded icating to the county a certain par cel of land 60 feet wide and 150 feet long, for the purpose of btraightening the St. Heleno-Portland county road, conditioned on the vacation of the road from a like parcel of land ad Joining the premises oenveyed and the moving of the church and par sonage thereon, by the county. And the Court beiug advised in the matter, it is ordered by the Court that the said deed and the conditions therein contained be, and they are hereby approved, and that the Clerk file the same for record. On this 7th day of April, 1915, F. A. Berdahl presents to the Court his claim for indemnity in the sum of $25.00 for one grade jersey cow over two years old, slaughtered under the provisions- of Chapter 14, General Laws of 1913, and it appearing to the Court that thirty days have not elapsed from the date of such slaugh ter and the date of the filing of such claim, and the Court being advised in the matter, it is ordered by the Court that a public hearing of said claim be held on Wednesday, the 5th day of May, 1915, at the County Court room, for the purpose of determining whether said F. A. Berdahl has com plied with all laws in regard thereto and whether he Is entitled to receive said Indemnity. On this day It Is ordered by the Court that that certaiu order of the Court heretofore made, whereby county aid in the sum of $6.00 per month was allowed to L. R. Shanley, be and the same is hereby rescinded. On this day it Is ordered by the Court that county warrant No. 9744, 4th Series "A," in the sum of $6.00, heretofore issued in favor of L. R. Shanley, be and the same is hereby cancelled. On this day the Clerk presents to the Court his statement of scalp bounties paid during the month of March, 1915, showing the number and amount of warrants drawn, the names of the persons to whom Issued, and the date and number of each warrant, being as follows: March 5, No. 9751, to NIck Lammi, for $2.00; March 8, No. 9889, to Jay DuMar, for $10.00; March 10, No. 9890. to George Adams, for $6.00; March 12, No. 9891, to Fred Floeter, for $12.00; March 20, No. 9893, to W. R. Holmes, for $1.50; March 26, No. 9S94. to William Pringle, for $28.00; March 31, No. 9907, to E. R. Webster, for $4.00. And the Court being advised in the matter. It Is ordered by the Court that said report be, and the same is hereby approved. On this day it appearing to the Court that no bids have been sub mitted for the improvement of the Frank L. Smith road, according to the plans and specifications as here tofore advertised, and N. K. Smith now proposing to perform said Im provement according to Bald plans and specifications, to a width of ten feet instead of twelve feet, for the sum of $1500.00, and the Court being advised In the matter, it is ordered by the Court that said proposal be, and the same is hereby accepted, and that a contract be entered into with said N. K. Smith for the faithful per formance of the same. On this 7th day of April, 1915, it Is ordered by the Court that the Clerk be, and he is hereby authorized and instructed to issue a general fund warrant in the sum of $20.00, )n favor of Helen C. Mattson of Ing lls, Ore., and a like warrant on the first day of each month hereafter, until the further order of the Court. On this day the County Roadmas ter presents to the court his plans and specifications for certain road improvements In Road District No. 5, designated as the Hazel Grove road, and in Road District No. 7, designated as Division 4, Special, and the Court being advised In the mat ter, it is ordered by the Court that said plans and specifications be, and me name are hereby approved, and that calls for bids for performing such work be published In two suc cessive issues of the St. Helens Mist and the Clatskanie Chief, and that such bids be opened at 10 o'clock A M. on the 24th day of April, 1915. On this 7th day of April, 1915, comes on for hearing the claim of G L. Tarbell of Yankton, Oregon, for Indemnity in the sum of $100.00, for one grade short horn cow over two years old, and two registered short horn cows over two years old, slaugh tered by the State Live Stock Sani tary board, under chapter 14, Gen eral Laws of 1913, and It appearing to the Court from the certificates and affidavits on file relating thereto, that said animals were slaughtered on the 17th day of February, 1916, at Ken ton Union Stock Yards, Portland, Oregon, and, that said claimant has compiled with all the provisions of ald chapter 14, General Laws of 1913, It Is therefore ordered by the Court, that said claim be, and the same Is hereby allowed. It Is further ordered by the Court that the Clerk be, and he is hereby authorized and instructed to issue a general fund warrant in the sum of 160.00, In favor of said G. L. Tarbell, being one-halt of said sum to allowed as indemnity. It is further ordered by the Court that the Clerk prepare and transmit to the Secretary of State, a certified copy of this order. On this day it appearing to the Court that an error was made in the consideration of certain bids for road work In Road District No. 7, Special, as submitted 10 the Court on the 20th day of March, 1915, it is ordered by the Court that such bid be and the same are hereby reconsidered, and the order awarding such contracts be, and the same is hereby set aside in so far as the same affects the accept ance of the bid of Garfield Smith for Specification E. E., Division 3, for the sum of $1.14 per rod. It is fur ther ordered by the Court that the bid of R. L. Spencer for Specification E. E., Division 3, for the sum of $1.00 per rod, be, and the same is hereby accepted, and that a contract be entered into with said R. L. Spen cer for the faithful performance of the same. It is further ordered by the Court that the bid of Clarence Reed on Specification 3, Division 2, for the sum of $675.00, he. and the same Is hereby reconsidered, and the Court being fully advised In the matter. It Is ordered by" the Court that said bid be, and the same Is hereby accepted, and that a contract be entered Into with said Clarence Reed for the faith ful performance of same. On this 8th day of April, 1915, it Is ordered by the Court that the Tresurer be, and he is hereby author ized and instructed to transfer the sum of $96.00 from the General Road Fund to (old) Road District No. 5. Special, pending collection of 1912 special taxes. On this day the petition of II. West and others for the improvement of the road known as the Columbia Highway Survey, over that portion thereof leading from Scappoose to Clonlnger's Crossing, as heretofore filed herein, coming on for consider ation, and the Court after due con sideration thereof, as well as of the supplementary petition afterwards filed and the written remonstrance against such improvement, also on file herein, and listening to the argu ment of various interested parties both in favor of and against said pro posed improvement, and the Court not being fully advised In the matter. It Is ordered by the Court that said petition he, and the same Is hereby continued. Ou this day there is presented to the Court a written petition praying 'or the abolishment of the ollice of County Roadmaster and removal of the present Incumbent, and asking that the duties now being performed by such officer be performed by the County Surveyor; and the Court not being fully advised in the matter, re serves its decision for further con sideration.
