HELENS Fire Boys Take Auto Trip to Albany ' The St. Helen Volunteer Fire Com pany will be represented at the meet- ing of the Willamette Valley Volunteer , Fire Department AsjiK-iation to be held in Albany today. Chief L. K. Allen was elected a delegate and Stewart McKie alternate. These boy, with G. F. Robertson, Harold Robert son and Charles McCauley boarded Henry McCoy' auto thi morning at 6 o'clock and headed for Albany. They expect to reach there by ' 1 o'clock and attend the meeting which is called fur 1 o'clock and return in the evening Albany is about 110 or 115 nV'cs from St. Helen but with the automobile un der the skillful hand of Henry McCoy, that Title distance is ia?y. Money Available Soon Mr Emery Olmslead, vice president and C S Woody, financial agent, of the Northwestern National Bank of Port land, were in St Helena yesterday in conference with Judge Harris re'ative to the road bond money. The money will be available as soon as the bonds are properly exeruted. TRENHOLH J Christensen made a business trip to Portland Tuesday. Miss Glapha Brown who haa been spending the winter with her aunt, Mr II J M'Allister returnedto her home in Portland Monday. Mrs A M Campbell, assisted by her daughter, Mrs P E Bioekway, enter tained the ladies of the Silver Tea at her home on Thursday, April 16th. A delicious lunch wa served and the af ternoon was apent with music and fancy work. Morton McAllister, who haa been visiting his parents, Mr and Mrs J Mc Allister, left Monday for Fortland. Mrs Ada Latin who has been in Port land the past two or three months, re turned home Monday. E K Kelley took a load on a trip to the Nehalem valley, Sunday. A most enjoyable time was had at the school house Saturday evening, when a large crowd waa present at the last literary entertainment of the sea son. It was decided to diicontineu the literary work during the busy season this summer but to still retain the library. A new lot of books will be ordered at once. Ten dollars was taken in for ice cream at the last entertain ment. Mies Eftie Eversaul was elected librarian and the library will be open from 2 to 4 o'clock on Saturday after noons. Those who purchased live stock were George Perry, Oscar Oleson, Ltonard Rice, Dave Vincent and Frank Beagle. R H Douglas, veterinary surgeon, was called from Portland Sunday even ing to at'end the team owned by Sher man Saxton. Both horses had broaen into a clover field the night before and clover bloat was the result. Mrs Minnie Burgess was a Kainier visitor Monday. J S Holbrook, late of Illinois has bought eleven acres of land in the Bea ver home district from A Pirest. YANKTON NEWS Mr Eggman is putting a water ays-. tern on his farm. The bouse will have hot and cold water. He bought the farm from Charles lovell about two months ago and is making it a very desirable farm. Mr and Mra Eggman are Portland people and are well satis fied with country life in the Yankton neighborhood. Mrs. Harry Howard haa moved back to John Kappler'a place. Mrs Fred Briggs and daughter Es ther, spent a few days in Portland. The scholars of Mr Owen'a class are rehearsing a play, which they will give at the close of the school term. Mrs Mary Holestine's little grand daughtei has been very ill. Mr and Mrs Kyle entertained Rev Somerville over night last Saturday. Dra Brown and Harrison, veterinary surgeors werd in the neighborhood this week, and as one of the horses would not pull, the wagon was upset and one of the wheels broken.
