YANKTON NEWS
The traveling show company. show
ing hih clasa moving picture, came
here last week and stayed three days.
It was the first moving picture show
Yankton has ever had. The people ex
pressed treir interest and pleasure by
attending the show each evening and
crowded the Grange Hall. Tne pictures
were clear and steady. They generated
tneir own electric light by using auto
moUte power. Most of the children
and some of the grown people had never
seen a moving picture show before, al
though mairie lantern Dictures have
been given here in the past.
Walter Nagel. son of Mr. and Mrs.
Nagel of Bachelor Flat, employed in
Masten's locking camp, broke his leg
last Saturday. The accident happened
while he was at wo'k. He was taken
tn a Portland hosDital. He was about
17 years old.

A party of teachers from Vernonia
passed through Trenohlm Tuesday on
their way to St. Helen to attend
teaches' institute.
There wan quite an excitement
at Trenholm last week when Geo.
Cropp had a fine new overcoat stolen
by a bolt cutter leaving town. How
ever, the thief was overtaken at Houl
ton, a warrant was sworn out for hi
arrest, he delivered up the overcoat
and gut thirty dsys in jail.

On Monday evening, December
1st. there will be held in the City
Hall in St. Helens, a mans meeting
of the citizens of the city for the
purpose of discussing the advisa
bility of constructing a public dock
in St. Helens. The diweussion will
take a wide ranjre as to building
docks, the kind of docks, the loca
tion, the probable cost and the
manner of raisini? funds with which
to pay for same. It i earnestly
requested that every citizen of the
city who is interested should attend.

An ordinance requiring the owners
of lota 12 to 22, both inclusive, of
block 24 and lots 12 to 22, both inclu
sive, of block 2.'. all in the city of St,
Helens, at their own expense, to cor.j
struct a sidewalk along the west side
of Casenau street, abutting upon said
lots and all of them.
The City of St. Helens docs ordair
as follows:
Section 1. That by thisordinance
the owners of lots 12. 13, 14. 15, IS
17, 18, 19, 20, 21. and 22 in block
24 and lots 12. 13. 14, 15. 16, 17. IS.
19, 20, 21, and 22, in block 25, all
in the city of St. Helens. Oregon,
within thirty days of the final pass
age and approval of this ordinance, at
their own expense, are required to
construct a sidewalk on the westerly
Bide of Casenau street and abutting on
the easterly ends of said lots.
Section 2. That said sidewalk shall
be, three feet in width, and constructed
of fir planks two inches in thickness
by twelve inches in width, laid length
wise upon cross pieces, six feet apart,
of sufficient size to safely sustain said
planks with the weight they will be
required to carry.
