Mrs. Emma Smith has rented the
house belonging to Mrs. Schell and
it will be used as a rooming house.
Mr. and Mrs. A. Holaday and
Mr. 0. M. Washburn attended the
dedication of the Masonic Hall at
St. Helens on Saturday evening.
Miss Heist, our High school
teacher, spent Sunday with her
parents at Salem.
Miss Manny and Miss Stevens
visited at their homes in Portland.
Mr. and Mrs. D. Johnson and
son Urban from Portland were
guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Washburn on Sunday.
On Friday afternoon a debate
was held in the High school room
on the question, "Resolved, that
U. S. shall maintain a large navy."
The a!Tirmative speakers were:
Supt. M. Bundy and Leon Logan;
the negative, Milton Miller, Athlene
Tolly and Ray Holland. The
judges were Mrs. G. Watts, Mrs,
0. M. Washburn and Miss Zella
Ramsey, and their decision was in
favor of the affirmative.
Mr. Hoover, traveling salesman
who is also a Gideonite, gave an
interesting address at the Congre
gational church on Snnday evening.
Mr. Hoover is a cousin of Mr. Holaday.
An attractive wedding was that
of Miss Mary Adams and Mr Tom
Roy, which was celebrated Sunday
afternoon at the home of the bride's
parents, Mr. and Mr. J. Adams,
by Rev. W. H. Meyers, in the
presence of relatives and friends.
The room where the weeding took
place was prettily decorated and
also the dining room where
luncheon was served, following the
ceremony. Mr. and Mrs. Roy are
both prominent socially and their
many friends are glad that they will
make their home in this place. The
out-of-town guests attending the
wedding were Mrs. F. D. Hobert
and daughter from Portland. Mr.
and Mrs. G. Frederickson from
Linnton and Misa Theresa Adams
from Portland. On Monday even
ing the Scrppoose band serenaded
Mr. and Mrs. Roy and many friends
assembled at the home to extend
best wishes.
Mr. and Mrs. Niblock have
moved into the new house just
erected by Mr. Fish.
