The city of Port la ml lias designated a special policeman to censor the dances jo that the ratf. tanjro and other indecent steps shall be prevented. The police force in nearly every city tun been instructed to keep cfosc watch on the dress and actions of the women. liven in St. Helens the rranatfers of the dances have put the taboo on the ratfuintf. etc.. and people are warned at every dance that ragging" will not bo permitted, still in the face of the warning there are those who try to rag a little anyway. All alonjr the line, in every community, there Is a movement to control the matter of women's dress arid and actions. There is a general belief that the styles of female clothing has considerable to do with the many assaults and at tempts at assaults on the w omen. The tendency of the styles is to use just as little clothing as is fKissiiiIe. arid there are those women, many of them too, who will use just a little less that is possible. It is a sad state of affairs when it becomes neces sary to appoint a censor to pass jon the decency of women's clothing, and to have a police man stationed at every dance hall to see that improper and im moral dancirg is not permitted. It is time that the good women of the country take some steps to Jo away with the extreme styles and fashions and Ret back to the ityles of old fashioned mothers, fur whom no censors or police men were needed.
