Loons, Conveyancing St. Helens , Orison James Durt. the defeated candi date for mayor at the election lint Monday loses none of his nooularity or prestige as a lead ing-citizen of the city and county hv that defeat. The issues in the campaign were issues o policy rHther than of person, and the issues championed by the Durt ticket were in the mi nority. Of Judtfe Dart nothing was said derogatory to his char terer, and no person, either for orsjrainst him, uttered a word isTainot his personality. There was no room for such, and had anything of the sort been said by strong partisan friends of the opposition, it would have re acted, because the people of the city know only too well that there la no more fair, high minded, honorable man in the community than is he. Though defeated. Mr. Dart still retains the respect and esteem of the entire com munity. The successful candidate, Mr. A. W. Mueller, is an attorney of St. Helens, having resided here about four years, and bears the reputation of being a thoroughly competent business man and pro gressive citizen. He will make good in the office and will re ceive the support of the citizens of the city. The educational feature commends the idra to every good citizen, and when in use it is strongly endorsed as an important factor in the upbuilding of the community. That a lar-e percentage of the growing generation of children will be provided with sufficient fund to enter into business, or for educational purposes, ems like a fairy tale, but the Tad's System will ure!y accomplish this result. Starts March 29th The city flection is passed. The new ollicera have Utn electel. The vloction was pre ceded by thj most active cam paifn ever witnessed in the city it a city election. The isnues were mado to appear as wry large, and yet after belnjr Hummed up did not amount to anything. Had either ticket won the city would have tiune alontf Just the same and everybody would have had just so much kick coming anyway. Whatever the sctions of the oflkers. especially the council and mayor, there will be criticism and commendation. But the otlkera have been elected. They are all men, and woman, of character and qualifi cation, and it ii up to the good citizens of the city to get back of them and boost, rather than knock. If any of the actions of the oflicera do not meet with the approval of some of the people, those people have their God given right to kick and kick hard, and it is their duty to do so, but bo far as the election is concerned and the issues involved thereat let us all forget it and uphold our official family in the perform nce of the duties as they see them.
