In discussing the school. Darrxl s.i s it has an enrollment of about 5 students in tlir 2 grades. He thinks it is ahout like ;m other except that everything is done according to arnix icgulatioiis. "We wake up h the bugle (:15 A.M.) and go to bed hx the bugle." In hetween bugle blasts Darrxl and his fellow students taste a lot of other morsels of militaix life, as w itness : I . They w ear a uniform at all times "except when we don't have one'' (due to ripped pants, need for laundering, etc. ). J. Passes are issued a la mili tary with all students getting weekend passes unless restricted for disciplinary reasons and sen iors also receiving Wednesday night passes. Duties include standing in school and weekend guard, doing k.p.. etc. 1. Disciplinary action is meted out and consists in marching on pass time ami hacks, which the Captain administers. According to Darrxl. "The Captain" is a re tired military officer who. fills much the same position as the principal in a regular school. 5. Rank js awarded according to how the student gets alone; in school. The equivalent of all ranks in the tegular army are found. Darrxl attained the rank of Tech. Sargcant before graduation. Darrxl s,is some of the stu dents didn't like the school ami took off. I ;or his part, however, he likes Hill, particularly for the discipline. He plans to enter the at in) this fail and feels that Hill has gixen him good preparation for the service. College Pharmacy OSC Carpentry OTI Ounstnithing OTI have been able to progress iu rank faster due to their back ground at Hill. Darryl's extracurricular inter ests run mainly to horses and guns. At .school he did a lot of tiring on the rifle range, using ,22's and M-l's. He qualified as an expert in the use of the .22 and came in 3rd in an M-l firing contest. This summer, while stay ing with his grandparents, be plans to do considerable rodcoiug. Included among his projects was riding bareback in both the junior and senior divisions of the 4th of Julv rodeo at Klamath Falls.
