G. G. Robinson, youngest son of
Councilman G. A. Robinson, has come'
from Walla Walla and will engage in
barbering here. Mr. Robinson is well
known in this city and county. V
Albany is changing. An old resident
this week counted forty people pass his
office, and of the number he knew only
six. Albany Democrat. Perhaps the
six were the only ones he didn't owe.
Next Monday one day only,' Dr, Lowe,
the well known optician and optome
trist, will be at Hotel Corvallis. Don't

Cook and the dead Leopold mixed up.

The Lebanon business men have sent

and ball to be given the night of. Dec.

Mrs. J. II. Mdore, mother of S. H.
Moore, of Job's Addition, died at Brim-
field, Illinois, December 3, at the age
of 67, the difficulty being " leakage bf
the heart. Mr. and Mrs. Moore were
residents of Corvallis once and were
well known to many people.
Prof. Joseph Emery D. D., from
California, has arrived in the city; and
Sunday' evening will preach' at . the
Presbyterian church. Prof. Emery
was connected with 0. A. C. a number
Of years and is well known here as a
man of ability. ' .Doubtless " , a ' large
number of his old friends 'will be pre
sent tomorrow evening to hear him.
C. A. Cole, of O. A. C.,' will address
Portlapders tonight , on "The Care of
Young Trees." This will be the second
of a series of such lectures to be given,
So valuable are some of the suggestions
made by the orchardists that a steno
grapher will be present tonight and at
subsequent meetings. Full . notes 'will
be takeri of the discussion, and these,
after' being edited, will he published by
the organization. v
. Jamison, the big red-headed star per
former on the 0. A. C. football team
two seasons prior to the last, was mar
ried on Wednesday, Dec. 15, , to ,' Miss
Ethel Titensor, Of Logan, Utah.
Jamie ' many times demonstrat
ed his. ability to bowl over opponents
as big as the side of a house but when
Cupid tackled him he went down, and
he will probably for ever stay down.
The Titensors of Logan are very ex
cellent people, and Jamie is one of the
biggest good-hearted fellows that ever
blew out of Lewistonr that v secton of
Cache county, Uath, that is actually
rolling in wealth. A host of followers
at O. A.' C. will be pleased to hear of
his marriage. "

Owing to the inability of Hon. B. F.
Mulkey to come to Corvallis next Tues-1
day evening, the entire entertainment,
in which he was to impersonate Ham
let, has been cancelled. Mr. Mulkey
wired this morning that an unexpected
session of the grand jury at his home
town would prevent his coming as in
tended. . 1 ' , , ' '-
The stockholders of the Corvallis
Creamery Company met a day or so ago
and elected directors as follows: J. W.
Ingle, ; Dick Kiger, : Lee Henkle, Geo.
Lindeman and Robt. Wiley. The 'di
rectors elected Victor P. Moses secre
tary and treasurer. The company is in
good condition, output on hand cover- (
mg indebtedness. The creamery will
be operated the coming year.
, "Peruna" Francis put up $500 bail
yesterday and was released from the
county jail. ' He and Harry Waggoner
were arrested at La Grande ten days
ago, the men having left Corvallis two
or three , months ago, after arrest for
gambling and release on. $25 bail. Wag
goner put up bail several days ago and
returned to his business at La Grande.
The two cases will come up at the next
term of court. There is but one pris
oner in the county jail, a man from
Lincoln county.
Councilman Irvine met with Quite an
accident a few days ago that has not
yet been chronicled. Frozen water on ,
the back porch of his home caused him '
to slip and fall. His ear was badly"
cut, the top of his head was gashed
and something was torn loose in,there-''
gion of his diagram. The old gentleman j
says he has to go outside now to turn
round and it takes two people to help j
him' get his -, breath. From general i
appearance, Mr. Irvine had a very hard
fall. i
