JACOBSON, M.D. Allergy and Asthma Research Group 1488 Oak Street • Eugene IN BRIEF Surgery cuts Clemens' Oregon career short Senior quarterback Kellen Clemens underwent surgery Monday morning to repair damage from the fractured left ankle he suffered in Saturday’s 28-21 win at Arizona, ending one of the most successful collegiate careers in Oregon history. X-rays on Sunday confirmed the severity of Clemens’ injury, and a full recovery is expected to take three to six months. The injury occurred one week after Clemens set an Autzen Stadium record with 36 completions. The Burns native also established a school record with a career comple tion percentage of 60.9 percent, and his 61 touchdown passes fall only one shy of Danny O’Neil’s school record set in 1991-94. Clemens led the Pacific-10 Con ference and ranked fifth in the country in total offense (329.3 aver age) while rating 17th nationally in passing efficiency and was one of seven finalists for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, presented annually to the nation’s top senior collegiate quarterback. Clemens had led the Ducks to its highest national ranking since the 2003 season. Oregon currently ranks 14th in the Associated Press Top 25, the USA Today Poll and Harris Poll. The Ducks also join two other Pac-10 Conference teams in the Bowl Cham pionship Series rankings — Oregon currently sits 11th in the BCS, while UCLA ranks eighth and USC, who previously held the top position, fell to number two after being displaced by Texas. — Luke Andrews Volleyball: Ducks struggle against Huskies Continued from page 9 amazing plays I’ve never seen another libero make, but Stephanie is ... very consistent and a great defensive play er,” Russell said. Oregon had to adjust to Alleman’s presence, starting the match with four Washington State points before the Ducks responded. Oregon and Washing ton State traded points until, when tied at 25, the Ducks scored five-straight points culminated by consecutive Russell service aces. In games two and three, Oregon managed leads of more than four points before the dramatic finish. Out side hitter Mira Djuric had one of her most consistent performances with a match-high 17 kills. Djuric struggled with her serve, an area Djuric said is worse than pre-Pac-10 play. “Right now it’s not the way it was and not the way it’s supposed to be,” Djuric said. Oregon’s turnaround came after losing in straight games in an hour and a half Friday against Washington. The Huskies met expectations as they won games with machine-like efficiency. Holding a three-point lead at eight to five, Washington had an 18 to seven run to take a 26-12 lead and win game one 30-17. Washington won game two 30-16 and a nearly identical game three 30-14. Djuric had 13 kills. Erika Bartruff and Heather Madison had 14 and 10 assists, respectively. idmnsfeldt@dailyememld.com Stephanie Alleman goes for the kill against Washington Friday. Alleman filled in for injured Katie Swoboda Saturday against Washington State and had 18 digs.
