Sam Bond’s is not your typical neighborhood bar & venue.
You won’t find any quick and cheap deep fried foods, chick
en strips or fries here. What you will find is some of the best
food around including the best garlic bread in Eugene. And
the food comes with entertainment - in addition to the great
food, Sam Bond’s offers local talent on a nightly basis as
well.
When you enter the building you are welcomed by the
friendly staff, the surprisingly comfortable wood bench seat
ing and the giant red stage in the back. During my visit, I
tried two dishes - Kafir Coconut Prawns ($9.00) and their
Broiled Salmon ($10.00). Both were outstanding. The
Coconut prawns were seasoned with a medium-based, sweet
coconut milk and seared to perfection. The salmon was
broiled to perfection - nice and firm, almost crunchy on the
outside and perfectly cooked on the inside. Like the prawns,
the salmon was delicious and even more filling. Both of these
entrees were served with the largest salads I have ever seen. I
opted for the Honey Mustard dressing and was again quite
impressed. The Honey Mustard dressing actually had real
mustard seeds in it and it smelled great. The dressing was
sweet and creamy and delicious at first, and ended with a
spicy kick of horseradish. Needless to say, I ended up dipping
everything in the dressing, even the salmon. Next, let me tell
you about their amazing garlic bread. Unlike a lot of garlic
bread, Sam Bond’s isn’t made with a thick layer of garlic salt
and butter. Theirs is made with real garlic cloves and roasted
in the oven until the smell alone makes your stomach
grumble with anxiety. Although a little on the spendy side at
$3.50 for six slices, trust me garlic lovers, it is worth every
last penny!
Sam Bond’s Garage is open 4pm-2ish Monday through
Saturday and 4pm-12:30ish Sundays with live and local
talent starting at 9pm Monday through Thursday, 9:30pm on
Friday and Saturday and at 8:30pm on Sundays. Sam Bond’s
also features 8 beers on tap, 11 wines and a happy hour that
