architecture Associate Professor
Otto Poticha, who taught Kruger's
two-term advanced design studio.
"She will be persistent and will
question everything from her
mentors and will always put some
of herself into every project,"
Poticha said. During the last two
terms, Kruger created sketches for
a 50,000-square-foot visual art
center for the Downtown Initia
tive for the Visual Arts in Eugene.
"This project really came to
gether well for me," she said.
"Somehow I handled it in a
really organized way."
This past year, after an extensive
application process, Kruger was
accepted as an intern at the newly
named Schnitzer Museum of Art
at the University, where she de
signed models of and the sign for
the gallery.
Kruger was also a GTF last year
for architectural multimedia class
introduction to computer design
media, where she taught the use
of various programs and how to
set up a web page.
"Nicolai has consistently helped
out the architecture department by
devoting her time to helping
younger students learn media de
sign," sophomore Robert Stroup, a
student in the dass, said. "She is tru
ly an agreeable personality in the
school and is looked highly upon
by both peers and professors alike"
Some things Kruger said stood
out in her three years at the Uni
versity induded old-school archi
tecture professors, moving into
her architecture studio — with
sleeping bag, pillow and fridge —
and enjoying free time because
"you don't have much."

Special, special thanks to Michele, the

Everyone at the Emerald, you have a
special place in my heart.
Thanks to my family, who has sup

Grandma, Grandpa, Dad, Karen,
Jimmy and Neil — I couldn't have done
it without you.
To my fifth-year partner in crime,
Tony, it's been a blast.
To my girlfriend, Corey, 1 love you.
So, University, I give you my thanks.
Everything I've mentioned has been pos
sible because of the opportunities pre
sented. You've truly been worth every
overpriced cent.
