Shortstop Breanne Sabol (12) has started every game but one in two years at Oregon.
over that before you get to college,"
second baseman Erin Goodell said.
"But (Sabol) wishes more than any
thing that she was Britney Spears;
she thinks she looks like her, she
wishes she could be her. It's a huge
joke on our team because she talks
about her at least three times a day,
so you can't not make fun of it a lit
tle bit."
Luckily, there are two sides to
every story.
"I've never been to any of her con
certs," Sabol said. "But I like Britney
Spears and I like her music. She
came out when I was in eighth
grade, so of course 1 kind of grew up
with her. (The team) will joke with
me because I actually like Britney
Spears' music and I'll go out and buy
her CDs and stuff."
As long as Sabol is a good sport
about Britney, she will be known for
that. Oh, and for her stellar defense
in her first two years on the field.

The Ducks have surpassed expecta

Smith. Despite recruitment being
scaled back the past couple of years,
Oregon won its only team-scoring

Arizona State
The Sun Devils currently lead the
conference championships after
Jacquelyn Johnson triumphed in the
heptathlon last weekend. Her score of
5,603 points has earned her an auto
matic berth into the NCAA Champi
onships, scheduled to start June 9. She
also is the first Sun Devil heptathlete
to win the event.
Washington
Youth will also be relied upon to
score for the Huskies. Freshman Dallon
Williams is the leader for the squad in
the 3,000 meter steeplechase (10:41.78)
and the 5,000 meters (16:41.19).
Freshman Ashley Lodree has post
ed an impressive time in the 100 me
ter hurdles at 13.39 seconds.
Arizona
The Wildcats are led by junior Shar
ifa Jones, who is their top mnner in
the 100 meter hurdles (13.13 sec
onds) and top long jumper at 20-10.
Washington State
Jump events are the strength of the
Cougars. Sophomore Robin Mikesh
and senior Stephanie Jaroos are the
team's top high jumpers after clearing
at least 5-8 this season.
