Terrence Whitehead
sophomore running back
Los Angeles
5'10", 207 lbs
Terrence Whitehead has struggled recently and as Oregon's running game goes,
so go the Ducks. Whitehead rushed for 40 yards last week against Utah, run
ning into red jerseys seemingly every time he touched the ball. In Oregon's-first
four games of the season, the Ducks rotated running backs. However, White
head has seen the most action lately, and he hasn't run with it. Before the loss to
Utah, Whitehead ran for 18 total yards on 10 carries in Oregon's 55-16 loss to
Washington State. The Ducks
need the sophomore to step
up against the Sun Devils.
Oregon will establish its
passing game — that has
n't been a problem so far
— but the Sun Devils
will eventually adjust. If
Whitehead can't get it
going, then running
back Chris Vincent
will have to take
over. However,
the freshman
hasn't fared
much better re
cently. Against the
Cougars, he ran for
17 yards on seven
carries. He missed
last week with an an
kle sprain, so he might
not be 100 percent for Saturday's game.
Arizona Slate quarterback Andrew Walter threw for 536 yards in the Sun Dev
ils infamous 45-42 win at Autzen Stadium last season. Well, he's back to face
the Ducks, and even though the game isn't in Eugene, he is primed for another
big day. He has struggled — make no mistake regarding that — but began to
show signs of life in passing for 305 yards against a tough USC defense last
week. Against Oregon last season, he threw for four touchdown strikes. If the
Ducks can somehow stop the senior from having a big day, they could gain the
upper hand. Arizona State's rushing at
tack is no more formidable than any
opponent Oregon has played this
season. The Ducks can stop the
mn — they're second-best in the
conference at doing so — but, as
usual, are susceptible to the
pass. Oregon is ninth in
the Pac-10, giving up 281
yards a game through
the air. For Walter, just
one big play
could be all
he needs to
