caught us off-guard. We adapted; it
took us about a quarter or so. The
third and fourth quarter, we did a
very good job against the run."
A little rusty,
but back in action
Defensive end Quinn Dorsey saw
his first action of the season against
the Utes after missing the first five
games due to a suspension.
It was his first game for the senior
since the 2001 Fiesta Bowl. He redshirt
ed last season for personal reasons.
"It felt good," Dorsey said, admit
ting he felt a little rusty. "A couple of
my reads were a little slow and I
made a couple of mistakes, but I feel I
did pretty good."
His return frees the Ducks to
move Igor Olshansky from defen
sive end to defensive tackle on cer
tain plays. Olshansky played defen
sive tackle last season.
"I think Quinn's a good football
player," Bellotti said. "His athleticism
showed in the second half, and I'm
anxious and excited to get him going
even more."
Vincent back in the lineup
Freshman Chris Vincent should re
turn to the lineup Saturday against
the Sun Devils. The running back has
been hampered by a sprained ankle
and wasn't able to play against Utah.
"I feel better," he said. "I'm going
to give it a try (Monday) to see how
the ankle feels."
Terrence Whitehead led the Ducks
with 40 yards on 18 carries against
the Utes. The Ducks, as a team,
gained 80 yards rushing.
"I felt that that was my team out
there and I felt down that 1 couldn't
help them," Vincent said.
The first start
Junior Rodney Woods started his
first game as a Duck last Friday.
The transfer from Fresno City Col
lege had seen increasing action in the
previous five games before the start.
"It felt pretty good," Woods said of
the start. "It gave me a chance to get
in the groove of things instead of just
coming out there like on dime back
third-downs. Just coming out there
on one play I really couldn't get into
the groove of things. Once I started, I
got into the groove of things."

defeated by Vanderbilt's Amanda
Fish, 6-2 and 6-4, in her first match
of the day. In the second draw, Na
gle again lost in straight sets to Mar
shall's Jessica Johnson, 6-3 and 6-3.
"She played real well at times in
both matches, but made a few cost
ly mistakes," Schyllander said.
Despite the losses, the mere
presence of the senior has encour
aged the team. This summer, Na
gle worked extremely hard to re
turn to playing after rehabilitation
for the back injury she suffered
last year.
The Ducks are looking to the sen
ior to provide the leadership role.
The team consists of two seniors
and a total of four freshmen and
sophomores. Her determination to
getting back to 100 percent and
playing as soon as possible has
shown to the younger players the
commitment it takes to become
successful at the college level.
According to the Intercollegiate
Tennis Association preseason rank
ings, Nagle is currently ranked No.
35 in the nation.
"We are just happy to have her
back on the court," Schyllander said.
"It's just a matter of getting match ex
perience, after coming back from re
habilitation from injury."
Last year's Pacific-10 Women's
Player of the Year, junior Daria
Panova, will have her first match of
the season Thursday in the main
draw of the All-American Champi
onships. Panova is ranked 7th in
the nation in singles.
