With summer approaching, many people
may be moving into a new apartment or house
for the first time. For students on a limited
budget, this may call for major bargain shop
ping for essential home furniture. There are sev
eral ways to get furniture in Eugene without
clearing out the bank account.
“Buying second-hand furniture is a great way
to recycle,” freshman Simon Battisti said. “When
I first got to town, I paid a visit to Goodwill to buy a
chair. It was kind of dirty, but I covered it with a
blanket, so it was cool. I like the idea of recycling
furniture because it seems like it won’t take up a
lot of room in a landfill.”
While furniture in department stores may be
as high as $148 for a couch/futon or a dining table,
students often can get good deals at yard sales.
