It was junior Mike Sica who pro
vided a glimpse into Oregon’s future,
as he shot well enough to get invit
ed back individually in the tourney’s
fourth round.
Asked if he felt he was emerging
as a leader, Sica discussed next
year’s team.
“Next year we are young,” Sica
said. “I’ll try to help out the younger
guys, so they aren’t afraid. If a few
guys step up, we will be good.”
Nosier also added that he hasn’t
decided who will fill the leadership
role now that seniors Chris Carna
han and John Ellis have concluded
their collegiate careers.
“The cream will rise to the top,”
Nosier said. “It depends on who has
the work ethic. It will be interesting
to see who wants it bad enough and
is ready to play.”
Young women’s
squad ends season
disappointed
Despite not making the NCAA Re
gional or the NCAA Champi
onships, head coach Shannon
Rouillard is optimistic about how
things are yet to play out for the
women’s team.
“When you have a young team,
there are going to be some ups and
downs,” Rouillard said. “We are in the
process of rebuilding the program.”
It was senior Annie Davis, junior
Lacy Erickson, sophomores Jess Car
lyon and Johnna Nealy and freshmen
Therese Wenslow, Erin Andrews and
Michelle Timpani that traveled to
most of the season’s tournaments.
The team was one of the youngest in
the Pacific-10 Conference.
Nealy and Wenslow constantly
battled for the No. 1 spot, proving
just how young the team was.
“Therese and Johnna proved day
in and day out they were the top
two in the program,” Rouillard said.
If one thing is evident from the sea
son, it’s that this team will have a vest
ed interest in offseason workouts.
“All of us are disappointed in our
play,” said Nealy. “If we put in the
time, we have a good chance (of
qualifying for regionals).”

TODAY S BIRTHDAY (June 5). This
year, don't ignore important considera
tions or abandon your inhibitions. You'll
be wise to move slowly and carefully in
matters that involve far-ranging conse
quences.
To get the advantage, check the day's
rating: 10 is the easiest day, 0 the most
challenging.
ARIES (March 21-April 19) _ Today is
a 6 _ You'd like to move boldly forward,
but the timing isn't quite right. Wait,
even though it's frustrating, and do
more legwork first.
TAURUS (April 20-May 20) _ Today is
a 5 _ Others try to pressure you with
all sorts of tactics, but you're a tough
cookie. You have the advantage on
Friday and Saturday.
GEMINI (May 21-June 21) _ Today is a
7 _ Something you thought would
work, won't. It's not entirely your fault.
Others will be difficult to dissuade from
a course they've already set.
CANCER (June 22-July 22) _ Today is
a 5 _ Steel yourself against a sob story
until after obligations have been met.
You're not unfeeling or inconsiderate;
you're just being conscientious and
trustworthy.
LEO (July 23-Aug. 22) _ Today is an 8
_ If you can gather enough votes, you
have a chance of taking control. The
competition is strong, however.
Compromise will be required.
VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22) _ Today is a
5 _ A lot of people are hollering, but is
anything getting done? Stay cool and
calm no matter what, and keep your
goals in mind.
LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22) _ Today is a
9 _ Don't seek financial advice from a
friend who has all the latest toys. He or
she is probably up to the eyebrows In
debt. Ask the person who drives a well
maintained older car,
SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21) _ Today is
a 6 _ You'll be able to get your point
across effectively, but that doesn't
mean others agree. They have their
own agendas. State your point firmly,
over and over and over, if necessary.
SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21) _
Today is an 8 _ Your desire to run wild
and free seems to conflict with some
body else's agenda. Maybe it's
because you make it look so easy. Be
sensitive to another's limitations.
CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19) _
Today is a 6 _ You’ve either stashed
away quite a lot, or you will before
you're through. Your accomplishments
will overcome any pesky old insecuri
ties. Keep at it.
AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18) _ Today
is a 7 _ You're nothing if not an idealist,
yet you think of yourself as objective. If
you admit that you have an agenda, it'll
be easier to defend.
PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20) .Today is
a 5 _ You try to get along, but if s hard
to serve three different masters. Let
them work out exactly what they want
done before you try to do it.
