Carnahan continued from page 9 stroke that Oregon was able to edge out Texas El-Paso and clinch a spot in the NCAA Championships. But this season can’t be defined in one shot, one round or even one specific tournament. “You take it one stroke at a time, one round at a time and one tourney at a time, and it’s a culmination at the end,” head coach Steve Nosier said. “Chris has been a joy to have in our program and an out standing young man. He has given us his heart and soul.” Carnahan didn’t have just a piece of humble pie growing up; he ate the whole thing. “Golf is a humbling experience,” said Carnahan. “Golf is basically life.. Its ups and downs bring out the qualities in a person.” For a kid coming out of West Albany High School who didn’t receive any college atten tion until he sent out 50 letters to universities across the nation, that would seem like a lot. He wouldn’t have it any other way, and for a kid living out a dream, it’s no big deal. “I play golf,” Carnahan said. “That’s what I do. I’m just following my dream I’ve had since I was 6 years old. What you see is what you get. I eat Maple Garden every day, and I do the normal college thing, except I play golf.” Scott Archer is a freelance writer for the Emerald. nn To place an ad, call (541) 346-4343 or stop by Room 300 Erb Memorial Union Classifieds Classifieds: Room 300, Erb Memorial Union P.O.
