The Senate voted to transfer #300 from travel, #450 from the speakers line item and #200 from reference to the MSA food account and #400 from refer ence to advertising. Representatives from the Black Student Union asked the Senate for money transfers so the group can hold its graduation event. The Sen ate transferred #400 from black his tory, #25 from postage, #60 from ad vertising and #25 from the Malcolm X celebration food holding to the group’s food account. The Senate also transferred a #1,248 expense from fundraising to the Black Arts Festival. BSU was required to go through Senate to get this deficit taken care of because the expense was incurred in the previous fiscal year. After brief debate, the Senate voted to honor BSLTs request. Representatives from the Chinese Taiwanese Student Association ap pealed to the Senate for help in fund ing the group’s main event of the year, China Night. The Senate voted to transfer $100 from reference, $260 from AV set-up and $200 from the speaker account to China Night. It also voted to transfer $1,000 from China Night food holding to the food account, $1,000 from surplus and $991 from surplus to China Night. The ASUO Executive paid a visit to the Senate to request line item transfers to take care of deficits. The Senate voted to transfer $115 from long distance to postage and $385 from long distance to elections. The ASUO Executive withdrew its sur plus special request motion for $3,845. The Senate voted to give the Kul tura Pilipinas $858 from surplus to help the group pay to bring a speak er to campus. The Senate transferred $500 from the Native American Student Union’s spring powwow food holding account to the group’s spring pow wow food account. At the end of the evening, $10,143 remained in Senate surplus for fu ture allocation.
