Ask yourself: What could I possibly want more
From the UO Bookstore?
Better service? Better prices?
More variety? Extra sizes?
The answer is easy, ,
Even though this may sound cheesy,
Benefit yourself for free,
Vote for Alexis B!
By representing you,
There is so much I will do.
What concerns you, concerns me,
And that’s as simple as it can be.
The bookstore is for you, that we know is true.
U of O is one of the finest colleges I know,
It has the Bookstore with the most,
From the east to the west coast.
I’ll face any challenge, I’m focused and driven,
I’ll keep a smile on my face, and I ain’t fibbin!
I’ll get the job done,
And I won’t forget to have fun!
I’ll be here for you,
Until my work is through.
So if you select me,
And choose to elect me,
The bottom line is what I’ll find.
So put that X right next to Lex,
And everything will be just fine.
Nicole Harwood-Sloan
Hello, my name is Nicole Harwood-Sloan and I am
running for one of the two- year Sophomore
positions. As a student at the University of Oregon
for almost two years, I understand the importance
of the bookstore and its responsibilities to the
students. The bookstore must be an efficient,
helpful, and affordable non-profit business. To be at
the bookstore’s fullest potential, it needs to have
more student, staff, and faculty feedback with quick
responses. I believe this can be obtained by
surveying students after the rush during the first
two weeks of a term for suggestions on how to
improve for the next term and then implementing
the suggestions as soon as possible. We are all
affected by how the bookstore is run. I would like
this position to help represent the students. I
believe I can fairly speak for the students because I
am active around campus and interact with many
students outside of class. As an officer in Pi Beta
Phi, I understand the importance of representing all
voices fairly and the significance of making
decisions that are for the best of all parties; whether
students, staff, or faculty. Thank you for reading and
be sure to vote!

Mike Martell
Students here have the good fortune to elect student
representatives on the Board of Directors of the
University of Oregon Bookstore. With the current
environment among higher education in Oregon, it is
imperative that students take initiative in the processes
and organizations that affect them. The bookstore has
a substantial effect on the University Community both
financially and educationally.
For these reasons, active, intelligent, and diligent
student members of the Board of Directors are in
demand. The University Community deserves capable
and compassionate leaders promoting their interests
within the bookstore. I am an experienced student
leader with the skills and the capacity to be an
effective vocal student representative. My history of
finance includes being a member of the Programs
Finance Committee, which allocates over $4.5 million
in student fees. As a business major, I have both
knowledge in accounting and other general business
practices.
If you want a leader to be dedicated to student
interests, effective, and influential on the Board of
Directors, vote Mike Martell. I will strive for the best
bookstore that is both financially healthy and an asset
for students.
Mike Sherman
Student interests must be effectively represented on
the bookstore Board because of the great impact the
bookstore has on our educational opportunities.
Currently as an ASUO Student Senator I have been
dedicated to representing students. Through this
experience, my commitment to students has been
strengthened. It has also developed my leadership
and communication skills. My goal is to bring these
same skills and dedication to the bookstore Bo£rd.
Through hard work and determination, I believe I can
effectively do this.
Student representatives on the bookstore Board need
to communicate and work with students, faculty and
administration. This needs to be done in order to
further the opportunities the bookstore can provide
our entire University. Vote for the candidate with the
proven leadership skills necessary to represent
student interests and to ensure these opportunities—
Vote Mike Sherman for the Sophomore position.
