    Finally! Home-cookin' on campus!
Review by Mickey Miles & Sherry Telford
If you haven’t had a chance to try Flying Dogs Cafe & Deli
we would suggest that you try their food as soon as you can!
Why? Because you are missing out! From the moment we ar
rived, we were treated with great service and served even
better food. The cafe is located at 1249 Alder St. next to Ben
& Jerry’s. A great location along with good old home cookin’
is just what students never used to have. It has finally ar
rived.
We started our dining experience with a variety of appetiz
ers. While Sherry thoroughly enjoyed the fried dill pickles, I
was busy consuming a large quantity of fries. We opted for
both types of fries. They included sweet potato and tradition
al fries. Neither disappointed. I would also recommend trying
both with the Cajun spicing. Quite a nice way to top off the
fries, I must say.
Next it was on to the main course. Sherry dared to try the
Monterey burger. She assured me she would be going back
for another soon! The burger was great and came loaded
with more fixins’ than you could ever ask for. I opted for the
breakfast approach. The good old bacon and cheddar omelet
was delicious. It was loaded with tons of goodies and served
with home fries and toast.
If not for filling up on the wonderful main course, I
would have ventured on to the wonderful dessert menu.
Ah, if only I had more room. Sherry did try the fresh
squeezed lemonade. It was fabulous. Quite possibly the
best lemonade in Eugene!
Aside from a great menu filled with scrumptious goodies,
Flying Dogs also offers specials Monday through Thursday.
Let me assure you that there is not one special that isn’t a
great value. Another popular attraction is their daily happy
hour. Great drink prices mixed with $2.00 jumbo dogs is any
college guy’s version of heaven. While my experience was
great and filled with great food stories, I feel you need to get
down to Flying Dogs and experience it for yourself. You
won’t be disappointed. Heck, you will probably see Sherry
and me there. I will be the one with a mouth full of fries and
a large diet Pepsi. See ya soon!
