Softball rained out
at Portland State
No. 21 Oregon had to postpone
another doubleheader against
Portland State on Tuesday because
of rain.
The Ducks and Vikings were
scheduled to play two games start
ing at 4 p.m. The games have been
rescheduled for April 16 at 2 p.m..
This is the second attempt at a
doubleheader between the two
teams this season. Oregon was
scheduled to host two games on
March 13, but the games were post
poned. The Eugene-hosted double
header is now scheduled for April 9
at 2 p.m.
This postponement marks the
third time in five road trips that
Oregon’s games have been either
postponed or canceled.
The Ducks travel to California
this weekend to face Stanford and
California in three games.

Jordan Kent, seen here at last season's Oregon Twilight, will immediately impact UO.
Men's

each event) were taken from the
provisional list.
This year, however, that’s all
changed. Athletes will attempt to
qualify for regionals — where the
qualifying marks will be much eas
ier than the old NCAA automatic
marks — and the top five finishers
in each event will advance to the
NCAA Championships. A selection
committee will add 6-8 athletes to
each event.
After the season, Oregon head
coach Martin Smith will face the
daunting task of merging two track
programs into one. The Athletic De
partment announced in January
that the programs will merge next
season, with Smith as Director of
Track and Field and Gross Country.
The move was partly brought on by
the announcement that Heinonen
will retire at the end of this season.
Change is in the air, at Oregon
and around the NCAA. But the
Ducks are hoping that two things
stay the same, at least. They hope
Lorenzo and Stiegeler will return
to form.
Then maybe the men could
change Oregon’s Pac-10 title hopes.
