Bus bound for Bay Area
anti-war rally
Students for Peace is selling seats
for an Oregon Coachways bus bound
for San Francisco this weekend. The
trip will give students and communi
ty members an opportunity to par
ticipate in a nationwide anti-war ral
ly taking place Saturday.
Tickets for the bus, which will seat
a total of 46 people, cost S45 and can
he purchased at the ASUO office.
Mousing will also be provided for the
weekend at either a Berkeley Unitar
ian Universalist Church or a co-op.
The deadline to buy a ticket is 4 p.m.
Wednesday.
The bus will leave from McArthur
Court Friday at 10 p.m. and will arrive
at the rally Saturday morning. It will
depart again Sunday at 10 p.m.. Bus
riders should arrive at departure loca
tions at 9:15 p.m. before each trip.
Participants must provide their
own food during the weekend, as
well as money for transportation
within San Francisco.
“I think (the event) is a chance for
national solidarity in the anti-war
movement,” Students for Peace
member Beth Ayres said. “If we can
get the West Coast and the East
Coast organized, it’ll be a lot easier
to organize the entire country.”

gene city level speaks for or against
legalization,” he said.
Councilor George Poling, Ward 4,
agreed, saying the diversion pro
gram should be the focus.
“If one person can get off the use of
alcohol or narcotics or drugs through
any type of diversion program, then it
was worth it,” Poling said.
The City Council will revisit the
ordinance at a future meeting.
