Fencing

State Games in June.
Fifth-year senior Shannon
Boettcher randomly decided to
give fencing a try as a freshman in
1998, but decided to stick with it
instead of quickly giving up.

As the years passed, fencing
grew on Boettcher and he learned
to appreciate it for what it is, a
game of strategy. He can be used
as an example to those who would
like to give fencing a shot, but
aren’t sure if they’ll like the sport.
“You have more people who
stop early,” Csonka said. “But
those who do stick with it general
ly do well.”

Horoscope by Linda C. Black
TODAY'S BIRTHDAY (Jan 14) The process
of realizing your private dreams may force
you out into the public. Something that
worked before will work again to increase
your fortunes. Use old skills, or learn them
now in a retro endeavor. Something old-fash
loned is back in style.
To get the advantage, check the day's rating:
10 is the easiest day, 0 the most challenging.
