University looks
at long-term plan
The University Planning Office
revealed its development
goals last week, offering a
workshop on campus, as well

The University community had a
chance last week to look into the fu
ture — 20 years ahead, in fact.
The University Planning Office
unveiled its future development and
land use policies for the east campus
area Wednesday in the EMU Con
course, and provided a Thursday
workshop in Agate Hall to further
discuss possible changes.
The expansion contains seven
key elements, such as a mission
statement, which gives new room for
the school to grow while providing
affordable housing and other support
services.
But some residents do not support
the Planning Office’s intentions.
“The University is trying to push
ahead as if they had neighborhood
involvement, but they don’t,” said
