time they attend a meeting and
can receive a maximum of 30
points per term.
Spanish GTF Dani Marsh has
been running Tertulia, which
means “group that meets for con
versation,” for two years. Marsh
said the foreign language conversa
tion groups are a welcome change
to most students because it’s a
more comfortable setting.
“People aren’t forced to do any
thing here,” Marsh said. “If you
want to just come and listen,
that’s OK.”
Marcos Ungar, a third-year
Spanish student, has been going
to Tertulia for a year and a half
and said the meetings were instru
mental in increasing his Spanish
comprehension and conversation
al abilities. He added that there
are students of all ages and speak
ing levels at Tertulia, so people
should come to the group regard
less of their language ability.
“With most people, there’s a hes
itancy to speak because they don’t
want to look foolish,” Ungar said.
"People aren't forced
