I have supreme aspirations for myself
when 1 leave this University. I will work in
a trendy office, 1 will wear a classy suit
every day, and I will own (and use) some
nifty Palm Pilot computer gizmo.
On my lunch breaks, I will meet with
clients or enjoy a nice lunchtime meal at
the local trendy restaurant. A good variety
of dishes is imperative; I'll be eating here
daily. And with the location of this restau
rant, high prices will be tolerated, even
expected.
I expect all of these meals will be at
places much like Cafe Paradiso. This classy
downtown cafe has great food, a great
atmosphere, and a friendly wait staff that
makes you feel like a welcome member of
an elite young, professional society. The
only thing it does not have is high prices.
Cafe Paradiso is located directly on the
reopened Broadway, at the intersection of
Broadway and Olive. Plenty of indoor and
outdoor seating ensures a place to sit down
and eat, but prepare to stand for the fre
quent and popular evening performances
by local bands.
The menu has a variety of sandwiches,
salads, soups, and an impressive collection
of espresso drinks. The dishes focus on
fresh ingredients and a wide range of fla
vors. The soups and specials change daily,
and all of the food seems to be built from
scratch. There are a good number of vege
tarian options.
The ambiance is comfortably modem,
with colorful abstract art displayed on the
walls. The outside patio welcomes cus
tomers to sit and people-watch.
Cafe Paradiso is a perfect alternative to
the typical lunchtime trip through the
drive-thru, offering gourmet meals, quick
service and low prices. You would feel wel
come bringing any number of guests to this
place, for a casual lunchtime meeting or a
laid-back dinner date.
