though it requires more creativity
than simply throwing yourself
down a chute of water. In this case,
an inflatable body board is used to
propel down the 25-foot slide at
ungodly speeds. Surf Rider is the
longest slide that Wham-O offers in
its Slip ’N Slide collection.
Of course, for the lazy people who
don’t like running or sliding, there is
an “ancient” pastime that can be cel
ebrated in comfort of a backyard.
The tradition involves filling up a
children’s pool with water, sitting in
it and drinking strawberry daiquiris
until the sun goes down.
Participants in this traditional
relaxation technique may also en
joy reading, or wheeling the televi
sion outside instead of drinking.
Whichever method you choose,
this can be the best and most inex
pensive way to beat the heat.

Ice Cream

anyone say that it’s your birthday. A
Pearl Street employee will beat a big,
loud drum, drawing all attention to
your face. Your ears and blushing
skin will never forgive you.
Before the revamping of the Oak
way Center, there were a mere 14
* ice cream-serving establishments
in the Eugene-Springfield area, but
now, with the opening of Cold
* Stone Creamery, there are 15, and
15 is the perfect number of ice
cream-eating options.
The uniquely divine Cold Stone
has entered our little haven called
Eugene. With ice cream that tastes
like magical elves helped in the
production, who could go wrong?
The best part of Cold Stone is that
the flavors are limited only by your
imagination. Start with a base ice
cream flavor, such as cheesecake,
and add more ingredients, such as
graham crackers and raspberries,
and voiM, you’ve got your very own
cooling concoction. Enjoy the
creamy delights of Cold Stone while
cooling off humidity-soaked skin in
the courtyard of the Oakway Center.
