Technician. The Zebrafish Interna
tional Resource Center located, at
the University of Oregon is seeking
a full-time zebrafish laboratory tech
nician who will work weekends and
holidays as well as some weekday
hours. The successful applicant will
have a Bachelors degree preferably
in biology with knowledge in genet
ics. Skills and knowledge in the
areas of fish husbandry, aquacul
ture and various fabrication techni
ques are desirable. Primary respon
sibilities include weekend fish care
(all aspects), supervising student
employees, feeding fish during the
week, and careful observation of the
fish. Fish husbandry will include
breeding, feeding, maintaining, and
raising zebrafish, preparing food,
and cleaning tanks. The job also in
cludes some management responsi
bilities, computer skills, and general
trouble-shooting. The work requires
occasional heavy lifting, repetitive
lifting of 5 to 10 lbs., and performing
tasks in a hot and humid environ
ment. The ability to integrate into a
diverse work group is essential. Sal
ary is commensurate with qualifica
tions and experience. Candidates
