Ballot Measure 20-53
This city would use short-term strategies to preserve
and improve existing roadways in West Eugene. This
strategy focusing on the enhancement of roads as a
short-term solution and the development of alternative
forms of transportation as a long-term strategy.
Altogether this measure would preserve 44.2 acres of
wetlands west of Beltline.
Ballot; Measure 20-54
This ballot measure would move forward with the plan
to build the West Eugene Highway, a four lane parkway
running for 5.8 miles east-west from Garfield to outside
city. The goal of this project is to reduce current traffic
volume on West 11th at Beltline and would cost the city
an estimated 88.5 million. Approximately 50 acres of
wetlands will be filled with an estimated 53-92 acres
being created or enhanced to make Up for the loss.
Paid for by ASUO Executive.
Horoscope by Linda C. Black
TODAY'S BIRTHDAY (Nov. 5). First, get your fi
nancial affairs into order. It shouldn't take too
long. Then, sign up for a class or two. Get that
degree or credential you've promised yourself.
Go back to dog-training school, or take that in
tensive course in the martial arts. You'll never be
the same, and that can be a good thing.
To get the advantage, check the day's rating: 10
is the easiest day, 0 the most challenging.
ARIES (March 21-April 19) - Today is a 5 -
You're not quite up to par. Don't take on extra
work now, and don't say much about what
you're already doing. No point in letting the
competition in on your plans. You do have plans,
don't you? If not, find a comfortable place to be
and come up with some.
TAURUS (April 20-May 20) - Today is a 7 - A
very attractive person has something to teach
you. It could be about business, or it could be
about love - that part isn't clear. The attraction is
obvious, however, and the lesson could bring
you great rewards. Try not to let it get in the way
of your regular duties.
GEMINI (May 21 -June 21) - Today is a 7 - Make
tentative plans but not major commitments. Fo
cus most of your attention on bringing the mon
ey in, not on how you're going to spend it. Set
goals, then plans, then a checklist. Then, get
started.
CANCER (June 22-July 22) - Today is a 7 -
You're lookin good and feelin' even better.
You're ready to try something bold. But be fore
warned that actions will be much more effective
than words. Don't talk about it; just do it.
LEO (July 23-Aug 22) - Today is a 5 - Take time
to ponder your possibilities, assess your op
tions, explore your alternatives. Set priorities
and consult advisors. This is not procrastina
tion, it's planning,
VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22) - Today is a 7 - Your
discarded items could be exactly what your fa
vorite group needs. One person's trash is anoth
er's treasure, so don't just pitch that stuff. Find a
good home for it.
LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct 22) - Today is a 7 - No
more goofing off. Time to settle down and get
back to business. You sure like going places, so
don't complain if you have to work to pay for it.
But don't work harder. Work smarter.
SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21) - Today is a 7 -
Share information you ve recently learned with
a person who can put it to good use. This will
eventually be to your benefit, but don t do it for
that reason. Do it because you can and because
it will help.
SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21) - Today is a 6 -
You're naturally lucky, but this is not a great time
to gamble. Make a secure investment instead.
Something that was beneficial before, or some
thing old, should work. But don't talk about it.
Do it.
CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19) - Today is a 6 -
It s payback time. Do something special for a
person who did a good deed for you once. If you
don't immediately know who, give yourself a
minute. You'll think of somebody. But don t tell.
Have it be a surprise.
AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18) - Today is a 7 -
Time to reign in your enthusiasm somewhat.
Channel that energy. Your friends, relatives and
co-workers will be amazed at how much you
can accomplish.
PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20) - Today is a 6 -
Something you'd been wondering about is start
ing to make sense. The solution being proposed
now is much more to your liking. Negotiations
haven't been completed yet, so don t drift off.
Continue to pay close attention.
