The Emerald entertain
ment desk gets an avalanche
of promotional photos for
bands, movies and various
“acts” during any given
week. This special column
takes a moment to present
the most bizarre image re
ceived.
What’s wrong with this
shot from the upcoming
movie “Bubble Boy”? Sim
ple: no sign of Fabio. Not
only does the hunk-a-hunk of
burning love have a speaking
part in this film, he actually
plays a character instead of
just playing Fabio. He plays
Gil The Savior, a religious
guru clad in an all-white suit
who extends his arms a lot in
a welcoming gesture.
But the studio decided
we’d rather see these char
acters getting ready for a
night on the town. Sheesh.
Bubble Boy opens on Fri
day. For more Fabio-orient
ed news and an amazing
Javascript morphing photo
gallery, check out his inter
national fan Web site at
fabioifc.com.

Band performs for Groundwork
2001, a benefit concert to combat
hunger. Although Madonna is the
honorary chair for the group’s Ad
visory Committee, she is not mak
ing a tour detour to perform.
Suffice to say, this fall again fails
to let down the concert enthusiast
looking to make the most of the
summer nights before the rains
come calling again.
From the news side of things, a
scant week ago Mr. Lang dubbed this
summer “The Summer of Rehab.” It
appears summer isn’t over yet. Re
ports are coming out of the U.K. that
Foo Fighters drummer Taylor
Hawkins has been hospitalized for
“an overindulgence.” The incident
has forced the once-cool band to
cancel some European dates.
