The Secret Garden recently purchased its neighbor, Campus Cottage Bed & Breakfast, both of which are located near campus. There
are a wide variety of B&Bs, both small and large, old and new, located throughout Eugene for visiting relatives.

Family Weekend

Speckled sun shining through the
window, chocolates left on the bed
side, a fluffy towel hung by the bath
— if your kids fail to conjure up the
ideal visit for you on Family Week
end, there are a host of other people
willing to try.
The next time you’re in town,
why not treat yourselves by arrang
ing a weekend stay at one of Eu
gene's many bed and breakfasts?
From the intimate two-bedroom
cottage to the three-story home with
a view of the city, the Eugene Area
Bed & Breakfast Association has a
variety of options for you and your
family to choose from.
For those interested in staying a
stone's throw from campus, try the
Excelsior Inn Bed and Breakfast, a
popular destination for parents and
other visitors to the University.
Maurizio Paparo, owner of the
Excelsior Inn, is accustomed to
meeting the needs of visiting par
ents. "Ours is a convenient facility.
This weekend, 90 percent of our
guests will be parents," he said.
Once a fraternity house, the Ex
celsior Inn offers 14 rooms with an
assortment of amenities, including
private baths, TVs with VCRs, air
conditioning, computer hookups
and king- or queen-size beds, as
well as whirlpool tubs. With four
newly renovated guest suites, each
named after a renowned classical
music composer, the Excelsior Inn’s
rooms offer their own connections
to the past.
In addition to a comfortable place
to stay, guests will enjoy the flexibil
ity of an open breakfast, served from
7-10 a.m.
"This weekend we will offer our
guests the choice of eggs benedict, a
frittata, French toast, bacon and
scrambled eggs," Paparo said.
Linda Haney, the most recent
owner of the Campus Cottage Bed &
Breakfast, offered several reasons
why parents might want to stay
there. Located within walking dis
tance from campus and downtown,
Haney says the cottage is conven
ient and comfortable. Return visi
tors will notice the Campus Cottage
Bed & Breakfast was recently sold to
its neighbor, The Secret Garden.
Haney says guests will enjoy the
merger of this “magnificent three
story inn built in 1918” with Eu
gene's "original bed and breakfast.”

How often do you get the oppor
