    Why Jackson: DeNatale decided to
spend a postcollege year in Jackson
while working on her medical school
applications. When all the hard work
paid off and she was admitted to med
school, however, DeNatale decided to
defer her admission for a year. And
when the end of that next year came
around, she abandoned the idea of
becoming a doctor altogether. “When it
came down to actually having to go, I
couldn’t do it. I wanted to stay in
Jackson," she says. In the five years
since she arrived in Jackson, DeNatale
has baby-sat, waitressed at a steak
house, landscaped, worked in a doc
tor’s office, taken on her most recent
gig at CompassPoint, and met boy
friend George Putnam (background).
The Jackson experience: “It’s a really
healthy lifestyle,” says DeNatale. “All
weekend you're doing things outside.
You’re skiing all winter, hiking and
fishing all summer. We get out of
work and still have lots of daylight to
mountain bike.”
Favorite piece of gear: “My Pearl
Izumi jacket. It’s good for the cool
downhills.”
