Crater Lake Lodge open for
June through October season
CRATER LAKE — Crater Lake
Lodge has opened its doors for its
153-day visitor season.
About 50 of the lodge’s 71
rooms were booked for Satur
day’s opening night.
Lodge manager George Wins
ley said he could have booked
more but decided to keep the
numbers workable for an unsea
soned staff.
Tentative settlement
reached in brewery strike
VANCOUVER, British Colum
bia — With some beer supplies
running low, a tentative agree
ment has been reached in a nine
day strike by brewery workers.
The deal was announced Mon
day by Paul Smith, a spokesman
for Labatt, who noted that the
strikers have already rejected
three previous offers that had
been recommended for approval
by their union leaders.
Details were withheld pending
a presentation to the 155 mem
bers of the Brewery, Winery &
Distillery Workers’ Union Local
300. Union officials were un
available for comment Monday.
Smith said some stores began
running short of beer Friday.

that produces one-quarter of the
beer consumed in British Colum
bia. Last year the plant produced
about 800,000 bottles of beer a
day.
