Friday’s student-created deadline for the University to
join the Workers’ Rights Consortium passed without any
formal action from University President Dave Frohn
mayer. A promising statement out of Johnson Hall
showed the president to be close to having the University
join the WRC.
Student leaders and activists marched in front of John
son Hall on Friday in support of the University joining
the WRC, which monitors the working conditions where
University products are made.

A ballot measure to request the University join the
WRC passed by a 75 percent majority in this year’s stu
dent election.
While the march did not produce official membership,
Frohnmayer did announce in an e-mail to the Universi
ty’s Licensing Code of Conduct Committee that he is pre
pared to sign on, pending “appropriate conditions” and
final recommendations from the committee.
The committee will meet Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the
Johnson Hall conference room.
