A # Because actually I do not
♦ need a right-hand man. That
would serve absolutely no pur
pose to me.
Q4 So if you’re elected, do you
♦ have plans for appointing
someone?
A^It depends on whether the
♦ workload demands it. I don’t
see it happening but it might be
necessary.
What do you consider the two
♦most pressing issues at the
University, and what specific plans
to you have to address those issues?
A^Well, definitely the lack of
♦ left-handed facilities is the
most pressing issue, and also I just
wrant to make sure that as we strive
for diversity on campus that we
make sure to represent left-hand
ed people ... I can’t remember the
last time I saw a professor come in
and write down his office hours
with his left hand.
Q^What are the strengths and
♦ weaknesses of this University?
A^I’m a one-issue candidate, and
♦ I think the weaknesses are self
evident, and I think I’ve made my
self clear on that. Strengths: There
are a lot of dedicated left-handed
people here, they’ve just been swept
under the carpet. When I raised the
issue among acquaintances of mine
about forming a left-handed student
union, their response was over
whelming. I think it’s time to go for
ward with this kind of activism. If
I’m not elected, I’ll form [a left-hand
ed student union.] If I am elected I
don’t think it will be necessary.
Q# Could you critique Wylie
♦ [Chen] and Mitra [Anoushi
ravani] as the current executive
and tell us how you would do
their job better?
A4I’m not sure about their
♦ handedness, but, whether
they’re right-handed or left-hand
ed ... within the system they’ve
done a fairly adequate job.
O^And how would you do
♦ their job better?
I would fight for left-handed
♦ liberation, and they have not
done that. They have completely
ignored the left-handed popula
tion on campus.
Q# How would you represent the
♦ University at the state level?
A^I do not know [if Gov. John
♦ Kitzhaber is left-handed] but
the right-handed people have had
their way far too long in the legis
lature and in state government. I
would try to change that for the
year that I’m in office. It would
represent a group that has been ig
nored for a long time.
04 Could you critique the di
♦ versity issue on campus?
A41 think it’s important to work
♦ towards greater diversity. I’d
say that the University right now,
it’s not terribly diverse but it’s fair
ly representative of how Oregon is
at-large because Oregon as a state
is not very diverse. But in working
towards diversity, I think it would
improve education quite a bit, and
I think left-handed people are def
initely included in that.
Q^How do you see your rete
ntion with the University ad
ministration being?
A# Depends on whether or not
♦ [University President Dave]
Frohnmayer is left-handed or not.
This is the third in a series of stories pro
filing the ASUO Executive candidates.

dates before the ASUO primary election.
