And the Ducks (11-3 overall, 2-1 Pacific-10 Conference) will do their best to find so lutions before they travel to face their Northwest neme sis in Seattle this weekend. The Post Rotation Oregon played relatively well against Stanford’s interi or game in their 85-71 loss to the Cardinal last Saturday. The Ducks entered the game shorthanded after one of their most consistent post players, junior college transfer Julius Hicks, was sidelined with a back injury that he suffered near the end of Oregon’s win against California. According to head coach Ernie Kent, Hicks is practic ing this week, but his avail ability for Thursday’s game at Washington, as well as Saturday’s game at Washing ton State, is still up in the air. “Julius is still day-to-day,” Kent said. “I don’t know if he’ll be able to do too much in practice this week. We’ll see where he is at game time Thursday. If he’s not ready then, we’ll see if he’s ready Saturday.” Kent said there were mul tiple reasons for keeping Hicks out of the lineup Turn to Basketball, page 12 Oregon leaders Scoring , Smith 15.8 Scales 14.2 Wright 11.4 Rebounds Smith 5.6 Scales 4.1 Hicks 4.0 Assists Wright 4.9 Jones 3.3 Scales 2.3 Ducks: There’s no place like home ■ After a 10-game road swing, the women’s basketball team returns home for the first time since Dec. 4 / can't ex press in words how happy lam to be a part of this game, finally, at Mcarthur Court Jenny Mowe center ^ Women s Notes By Mirjam Swanson Oregon Daily Emerald “Oh ... my... gosh,” said junior center Jenny Mowe after Tuesday’s practice. “I can’t express in words how happy I am to be a part of this game, finally, at McArthur Court.” At last, they’re back.
