The ASUO Programs Finance
Committee approved eight more
ASUO programs budgets for the
2000-2001 fiscal year Monday
night, cutting four, increasing
three and keeping one un
changed.
PFC chairwoman Shantell
Rice said the PFC is trying to ad
here to the zero
percent bench
mark recom
mended by the
Student Senate
in fall 1999.
This does not
mean, however,
that budget in
creases are impossible.
“I think that overall, a lot of it
has to do with the importance a
group has on campus,” Rice
said.
The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual
and Transgender Educational
Support and Services Program
was granted a 1 percent increase,
the Asian/Pacific American Stu
dent Union received a 6.38 per
cent increase and Sexual Assault
Support Services received a 8.7
percent increase.
The House of Film’s budget
was approved with no change
from the budget for the 1999
2000 fiscal year.

While Rice said the bench

is not set in stone the commit
tee’s goal is to come as close as
possible.
“I would like to believe that at
the end it will all balance out,”
Rice said.
