"He’s always been really just kinda there in the background as a support, someone I can call and talk to if I need to,” Harrington said of his father, who is the prin cipal at Portland’s David Douglas High School. But it’s no accident that you ended up at quarterback too, right Joey? “I don’t remember anything specifically that got me into that position, but I ended up there,” r said Harrington, who was coached by his father in Pop Warner from fifth to eighth grade. And so have his two younger brothers, Mike and Nick, both now also attending Central Catholic, where their father and older brother attended before them. Thus, the family tradition con tinues, one that dates back to Joey Harrington’s grandfather, who played at Portland in the early 1940s. Harrington said “10 or 20” fam ily members regularly attend his home games, and they’ll assured ly all be draped in green and gold Saturday afternoon. “Man, it’s gonna be fun,” Har rington said. “I know all of us are looking forward to paying those guys back.” l 007243 No ticket?
