Courtesy Photo ‘Salon Series’ part of alumna’s new season for enthusiasts By Sara Jarrett Oregon Daily Emerald The athletic, innovative mod ern dance choreography of the Van Ummersen Dance Company is always performed with such a daring, energetic attack that the audience is left begging for more. Since the group was established by University alum Margo Van Ummersen in 1994, it has per formed throughout Oregon; in cluding Portland, Ashland and Corvallis as well as in Seattle. The Van Ummersen Dance Company represents some of the brightest talent in the Eugene dance com munity. Its next season should definitely not be missed. In addition to performances that feature the company only, this year marks the birth of what Van Ummersen calls “the Salon Series.” Though not absolutely confirmed, the idea behind these performances is “seeing and talk ing about dance,” she said. It will be held in a different place each month and will be open to any body who wants to show his or her work and receive feedback from dancers and dance enthusi asts.
