stitution Court ruling but also felt a great
deal of relief that the deliberation was
over.
“It is a big stress-reliever after working
really hard for three weeks,” Chen said.
A second appeal was from C.J. Gabbe,
who requested a reversal of the Elections
Board’s decision to dismiss his grievances
concerning Duck Web. The Court denied
Gabbe’s appeal.
The court did not rule out the possibility
that the Duck Web systenj may have im
perfections. However, it acknowledged
that part of Gabbe’s requests were inap
plicable as the Elections Board decided
earlier Tuesday to remove Duck Web as a
voting option.
The board decided to not use Duck Web
for voting because of many complaints
they received from students.
Not knowing that the Constitution
Court’s ruling on the primary election had
made their candidacy a moot point, the
team of Dan Reid and Matt Swanson
dropped out of the race for ASUO Execu
tive.
Reid wished Chen the best of luck and
said his decision to withdraw was neces
sary.
“It is impossible to do anything about
the issues that we attempt to influence if
we continue to waste our time, our energy
and our dignity by bickering about every
last little thing that may have gone wrong
with the elections,” Reid and Swanson
said in a letter addressed to the campus
community announcing the team’s with
drawal.
The Constitution Court also ruled on
two grievances.
One grievance was filed by Eric Pfeiffer,
who alleged faults with the voting system
and requested reinstatement on the gener
al elections ballot. The Constitution Court
found the grievance improperly filed and
dismissed the issue.
Another grievance was filed by Bran
don Hartley against the ASUO Elections
Board.
He claimed he was wrongly removed
from the ballot for misrepresentation at a
mandatory candidates meeting.The court
ruled the board was correct in its decision
and the requirement to attend the meet
ing does not violate the ASUO Constitu
tion.
