Last season, Morrison beat her
college-best throw in the discus
by more than 16 feet in what was
her first prolonged period of
good health for the Ducks. She
went on to finish sixth at the Pac
10 meet.
Fisk had a successful season
last year, regularly clearing 160
feet with each throw. After taking
sixth in the Pac-10 in 1997, Fisk
fell one place short of scoring at
the Pac-10 meet.
Although the Oregon Preview
is the official outdoor season
opener, Heinonen views the
meet as more of a stepping
stone toward the meat of the
season.
"This will be the first meet at
home for the team this season,
and the first for all of our new
comers at Hayward Field,”
Heinonen said. “Also, it will
help sort out who goes to the
Stanford Invitational [March
27-28], which is our first big
one.
“Track is a lot of different
things to different people. Each
weekend has a different goal. In
some meets, you run for the team
while in others you run for your
self. The goals vary from week to
week.”
