the season on Saturday, falling to
Washington, 96-85. Playing on
the road is difficult in this con
ference, but Oregon swept the
Washington schools on the
road two weeks ago and defeat
ed Oregon State, 60-52, in Cor
vallis last Friday in a gritty Civ
il War matchup.
Oregon now stands alone in
first place in the Pac-10 with a
14-2 record, and UCLA is a
game behind the Ducks, at 13-3.
It’s a disgrace that the Ducks are
not ranked higher than the Bru
ins in both polls — they’ve de
feated the teams that beat
UCLA, and they beat the Bruins
by 27 points.
The Ducks post a 23-4 overall
record compared to the Bruins’
22-7. Even though UCLA had a
tougher preseason schedule, the
Bruins managed just one win
over a ranked opponent, North
Carolina.
