Orientation Continued from Page 1 State Fullerton, said there should have been two differ ent orientations separating transfer students and new stu dents. Cuthbert said although her general advisement counselor was very knowledgeable about University requirements, she was disappointed that her de partmental adviser wasn't pre sent for individual registration advice. “My general education re quirements are all done, and I’m very close to graduating,” Cuthbert said. “It was nothing that I couldn’t do at home. “It’s good that they make people come to this for advis ing before giving them their registration number so they can weed out people who are not really interested.” Some students hope they've finally found a home for their college years at the University. Hillary Shultz, a freshman pre-journalism major, said she decided on the University af ter attending Syracuse Univer sity and Western Oregon Uni versity. Shultz said she didn't want to move again and she wanted to stay close to family. “I was double majoring in journalism and management, but not ready to do all the work,” Shultz said. “I came to Western, but I knew I was not going to stay. Then I just de cided to stay here.” r Scott Ikmiett/hmerald New University students registered yesterday in the EMU Ballroom. The orientation familiarized the students with University requirements.
