Super market shoppers donated the most at the Willamette Street shopping center, filling four bar rels and several boxes with needed food. Food collected from the “Gro cery Wish List” drive will be used at the Community Thanks giving Day Dinner at Whiteaker Elementary School. Some area businesses plan on supporting the dinner, including CD World, McKenzie-Willamette Hospital and Emerald Valley Kitchens. Skip Hermenf, owner of CD World on 11th Avenue, said the store would be donating $1,300 to $1,400 to the community din ner. Hermenf said the money was collected as part of a CD World promotional campaign last weekend. Schuller plans to serve food at the community dinner. "I didn’t have any family plans, so I thought I’d make someone else’s Thanksgiving great,” she said. The ASUO Outreach Program will be coordinating the event, which will include activities that educate students about crime and how to protect themselves against potential assailants. Booths representing different campus safety campaigns and a brown bag lunch will provide in formation for students in the EMU Fir Room from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Self-defense classes will be held from 2-3 p.m. and 4-5 p.m. in the EMU Ben Linder Room.
