tional motivating factor in Corval
lis on Saturday.
With wins over Washington
and Washington State already this
season, a win over Oregon State
would make Oregon the only
team to defeat each of its rivals in
the Northwest.
“We want to be the No. 1 foot
ball team in the Northwest, and
this is the next step to achieving
that,” Bellotti said.
The Ducks have played all
three teams every year since 1945,
sweeping the series six times,
most recently in 1995 and includ
ing 1987, 1980, 1954, and the
Ducks’ glory years of 1947 and
1948.
Injury update
Offensive tackle Marco Aguirre
should see more playing time
against the Beavers, Bellotti said.
Aguirre has been out since in
juring his knee against UCLA on
Oct. 17 but returned to uniform,
albeit in limited action, against
Arizona State.
“I think he'll be available for
more plays,” Bellotti said. “He’s
not completely healthy, but he's
very motivated. I expect to get a
minimum of half a game out of
Marco, and maybe more.”
But don't expect to see Aguirre
play before Saturday, as Bellotti
has closed practice this week.
“The substance of our practice
is no different,” Bellotti said. “But
the idea of closing practice is
somewhat traditional. It allows
our kids to focus on the end of
what has been an exciting sea
son.”
Eugene Symphony
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 19. 8 PM
Mahler’s soul searching Sixth
Symphony envelops us in the darkest
of nights. Powerful, passionate,
intensely personal, the music moves
through cloud and storm in an epic
struggle against man's fate. An awe
inspiring masterpiece charged with
exultation and despair.
Miguel Harth-Bedoya.
