“I think the
pressure is lifted
off my shoul
ders,” Brown
said. “We’ve got
guys out there on
the other wing, down low or at the
point-guard position who can put
the ball in the basket. I think
sometimes they’re the first and
second options, which leaves me
as the third and makes it a lot easi
er to get going.”
After Brown hit one of his
three three-pointers to give Ore
gon a 27-26 lead late in the first
half, the Ducks never trailed
again. Spurred by another three
pointer from Brown and two
more threes from Scales, Oregon
closed the first half with a 16-2
run to take a 40-28 lead into the
intermission.
The closest Coppin State got
to the Ducks in the second half
was 55-50 on the strength of an
8-0 run during which Oregon
went scoreless for more than
four minutes.
However, the Ducks sealed the
game’s outcome with a barrage of
free throws. In the second half,
Oregon made 18 of 26 free throws,
and it was 22

“We’ve got maybe seven or

who made both of his three-point
attempts. “That’s a weapon when
you’ve got three of four guys on
the floor who can shoot the ball,
and it should open up the inside
for us.”
The Eagles shot just .356 from
the field and .296 on three-point
attempts. Oregon out rebounded
Coppin State 37-28 and had 18 as
sists to the Eagles’ six.
