Oregon’s Alii White records one of her game-high 20 kills past Washington setter Angie
Short in White's last career appearance at McArthur Court on Saturday.
Continued from Page 7
recorded 17 kills, the Huskies
were able to stay alive in the tour
nament chase.
"We are just taking it one game
at a time,” Laffling said. “Today
we just wanted to improve on er
rors and things that we struggled
with against OSU.”
Oregon was led by White and
freshman Monique Tobbagi who
led all attackers with 20 kills.
The Ducks have no chance of
post season play, but needed a
win to prove they are a team to
be reckoned with.
“This is the best team I’ve
played with since I’ve been
here,” White said. “It’s frustrat
ing because I know we're good
enough to beat these teams. We
proved it against Arizona. That
was not a fluke.”
On Friday, the Ducks dropped
a four-game decision to Washing
ton State, 15-13, 15-5, 15-10, 15
11. Tobbagi recorded a career
high 23 kills and committed only
5 errors for an overall attack per
centage of .450. Oregon had four
players who recorded 10 or more
kills, but the Cougars out killed
the Ducks 80-67.
Washington State was led by
Wendy Rouse, who had no prob
lem filling in for the injured Jen
nifer Stinson. Rouse led all at
tackers with 25 kills and hit an
impressive .429.
“I am not pleased with the way
we played tonight considering
how we’ve been playing,” Nel
son said.
But for the Oregon seniors,
who end their home schedule
on a low note, the season isn’t
over yet.
