..... Tricks and Treats Ghouls, ghosts, goblins and fright. Black cats, tombstones and bumps in the night. It’s Halloween. The spooky night for tricks, treats and all kinds of riotous fun. Here’s a treat for you kids, a look at campus spooks when they were young. 1. Dave Frohnmayer, University pres ident: Although Frohnmayer said he cannot remember his costumed days of boyhood trick and treat, he said he was a quite a doozy for a recent Halloween. Frohnmayer dressed in a tuxedo, donned a fake mustache and Groucho Marx-style glasses. He draped a towel over his arm and carried an upside-down tray with cham pagne glasses taped to its bottom. What was this man of mystery and disguise? A dumbwaiter. 2. Mike Bellotti, University football coach: This is ground control to Coach Bellotti. Long before Bellotti’s dreams of coaching college foot ball and teaching quarterbacks to launch the old pigskin, he dreamed of launching other flying objects. Bellotti said his favorite childhood costume was an astro naut — er, the “Buzz Lightyear” look as opposed to the “Buzz Aldrin” look. 3. Ryan Frank, editor in chief of the Oregon Daily Emerald: Hie top Halloween costumes tor1998 1. Monica and Bill (note: Monica’s dress is no longer available at the Gap; search those vintage stores) 2. The "South Park" kids (Who could resist?) 3. The “Scream" mask (Everyone loves a good slasher) 4. KISS (That 70s band) 5. Duck football player with bowl game paraphernalia (It’s still a pos sibility) 6. Aliens (An old standard) 7. The Spice Girls (With appropriate variations, e.g. Pregnant Spice) 8. The Backstreet Boys (A new twist on an old theme, e.g. New Kids on the Block) 9. Cruella DeVille (Just don’t try to tote 101 puppies with you) 10. Glea son said his fondest Halloween costume memory was when he dressed up as a sailor. 5). Geneva Wortman, ASUO presi dent: She was once a little green slab of clay. Wortman has a trio of past costume favorites. She has dressed as Gumby, the Tooth Fairy and the Toxic Avenger. 6. Morgan Cowling, ASUO vice presi dent: Cowling said it’s a tossup be tween two costume favorites. She once wore a giant, fuzzy and flop py-eared bunny costume. She was also a gypsy. 7. Robert Melnick, dean of the School of Architecture and Allied Arts: How ’bout them Yankees? Mel nick, a native of New York, dressed as a New York Yankee. He wore the pinstripes and a wool cap to top it off. 8. Duncan McDonald, vice president for public affairs and development: He is a long-time Cleveland In dians fan, but had no comment. Maybe next year. 9. Renard Strickland, dean of the School of Law: Who ever said that lawyer types are blood-suckers? Strick land’s favorite Halloween was when he dressed up as Dracula. 10. Frog, street vendor: It’s a nun. It’s a joint. It’s a turd. No, it’s not Superman.
