    Theater: Pocket Playhouse plans a
full schedule of weekly shows
m Continued from Page 2D
Sanders said, “they give you a
chance to really surprise the au
dience and gives them a chance
to participate in something new.”
The new year also holds a full
schedule of weekly Pocket Play
house shows, which are put on
by undergraduates. The graduate
student-run theater, the Arena,
will hold four shows inter
spersed with the mainstage four.
Friday will be a full day for Ab
solute Improv as they put on an
afternoon show at the EMU Am
phitheater, take part in a show
case at Robinson in the early
evening and headline at an EMU
Ballroom show to close the night.
Neither the theater department
nor Absolute lost many perform
ers to graduation. The extensive
requirements of the major held
up many would-be graduates,
Sanders said.
“This program is not a profes
sional industrial training pro
gram,” he explained. “When
you’re done, you’ll be able to do
a Shakespearian monologue and
build a platform.”
