COURTESY Absolute lmprov will try to bring the comedy title belts back to campus after facing off with Wymprovf lmprov: Two seven-round matchups m Continued from Page 5 years ago in Agate Hall for a women’s coffee house group, and Wymprov! was created. The group currently performs as a the ater group once or twice per month locally, as well as out of town. Aside from Absolute Improv’s show with Yale's improv group, The Exit Players, last spring, nei ther Absolute Improv nor Wym prov! typically participate in competitions. Both groups say they are enthusiastic about the show for the Lord Leebrick The atre and are looking forward to the competition. Vicki Silver of Wymprov! says she has seen Absolute Improv perform and enjoys its show, al though the two groups have dif ferent styles of comedy. “Absolute Improv is a younger group of people who use a differ ent kind of physical comedy,” said Silver. “It’s like the differ ence between speed skating and figure skating — just a different kind of energy.” Scott Vogel and Michael Govi er, both of Absolute Improv, said they agree. “We haven’t had the opportuni ty to see them perform, but I think they do have a different energy. AI is very physically energetic,” said Govier. The two groups will collaborate on an opening number, which will have the boxing-related theme of "Rocky.” The competi tion will consist of each team working from a suggestion from an audience member. A panel of judges made up of local media personalities, such as KEZI's John Fischer, will render decisions af ter each round. Jeff Foley of the Lord Leebrick Theatre said the match is all in good fun and joked that the panel of judges will open ly accept bribes. “The Lord Leebrick Theatre primarily produces theatrical pro ductions, but we’re looking for ward to this show because it should be a lot of fun, and it brings a new audience to the the ater,” Foley said.
